Department of
Endocrinology is situated in the center for
Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolism which is a 4 storey facility located
in the UCMS-GTBH complex. The Centre for Diabetes, Endocrine and
Metabolism has been created as a center of
excellence to provide super-speciality services in this area.
Its aim is to provide state of the art
& modern referral services to all the hospitals, dispensaries and
clinics under the Govt. of NCT of Delhi in the areas of Diabetes,
Obesity, Thyroid, Pituitary and other Endocrine and Metabolic
disorders. It would address all aspects of Diabetes & Endocrine
care under one roof. The mandate for center
for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism as approved includes:
- To provide a state of the art referral superspeciality care in diabetes, endocrine
& metabolic diseases under one roof.
- To provide matching diagnostic facilities with fully
equipped modern diagnostic laboratories.
- To facilitate pioneering research in the field of
diabetes and endocrinology that can lead to a better
understanding of these disorders and help in development of newer
treatments.
- To record and manage data with respect to all the
above diseases in order to track them and know their trends and
guide policy.
- To strengthen the teaching of postgraduate students
of medicine in the institution at UCMS-GTBH complex and to
undertake super-specialty training in endocrinology by starting
DM courses.
The diabetes care
programme at the center is being provided on
the lines of leading world class facilities like Joslin’s diabetes center and other advanced diabetes centers in India and includes intensive management
